Our wiki If you've read this far, thank you - hopefully I've provided a little more insight into Gen 2 RNG abuse, the current state, and why it's possible, but not available.RNG abuse is a series of techniques that allow you to manipulate the game's internal random number generator in order to obtain the perfect Pokémon. If more people were willing to help out, I'd love to provide assistance where possible since it'd be a shared effort - there are a few individuals currently looking deeper into this, and I'm hoping to provide some extra support for them as they continue. I have a lack of time, and there's solutions to obtain the Pokemon.most people that really want it are either okay with SRing for it or using a bot and emulator to get it.most people just want the shiny Celebi, so any effort will be for one Pokemon. There's few people willing to actually do the research. If we know all of this, why hasn't more research gone on? This is effectively the same as Emerald RNG if everyone had the same shiny frames. This means if one person finds a shiny Pokemon and documents which frames they pressed 'A' on to get to that point, everyone can get that same shiny. One nice thing about Gen 2 is how shininess is determined by IVs, so everyone has the same shiny frames. With Transporter RNG, all people need to care about is getting a shiny Pokemon in Gen 2 (and most people really just want the Celebi). As long as you load your game at the same time and press 'A' on the same frames to load your game, you'll always be able to hit the same frames. The PRNG state does change when loading the save based on the day/night system in the game. The entropy is countered by always pressing 'A' to get into the save on the same frames. Gen 2 is pretty much the same way (slightly more complicated due to the entropy) - We can ensure we always load the save with the same initial seed and we can always hit the same frame and get the same Pokemon each time. Guide on wild pokemon RNG In Gen 6, wild RNG is done with sweet scent or honey - this will almost always cause a horde battle, and while there is no guide for horde RNG, it's pretty easy if you know how to calibrate your delay and have the latest pcalc and 3DSRNGTool. Think about Emerald and how it always starts on seed 0 - if I'm doing retail RNG, all I care about is my one shiny frame - I don't care about PRNG states, just where I press 'A' to get my shiny. ![]() How can we RNG without calculating the PRNG state? Multiple emulators (including the VC emulator) show this same behavior, so it has to be something in the game itself.īecause of this, we can't accurately calculate PRNG states.however, we don't exactly have to either. We can accurately calculate one half of the seed 100% of the time - the other half has some issues though. We know mostly how it works, but there's one thing missing - and we're not sure where it is or what it is (no, it's not the entropy or the vblank). It's possible, and we know how it works! Why don't we have RNG abuse? If you watch the DIV register and see it increase by 0x12 three times in a row, you know where in the pattern you're at (the end). One half has the register added to it, and the other half has the register subtracted from it. Yes, but it's definitely more difficult Do we know how the RNG works?įor the most part, yes - it's a 16 bit RNG, where each half gets combined with a special register the console has (DIV) to come up with a new PRNG state. Yes, it's mostly been used for testing/research. Yes, but it's not quite that simple Is there a GSC PCalc?
